किसी के गुणों की तारीफ करना जहां इंसानी व्यक्तित्व का एक गुण है, वहीं जले भुने मूड के साथ हर समय ईष्र्या करते रहने को अवगुण कहा जा सकता है।
आज के सामाजिक परिवेश में तरह-तरह के लोग हैं। कुछ लोग होते हैं जो दूसरों की तारीफ किए बिना नहीं रह पाते जबकि कुछ लोग ऐसे भी होते हैं जो दूसरे के सही होने पर भी जानबूझकर उसकी आलोचना करते रहेंगे।
ऐसे भी लोग हैं जो किसी के मुंह से किसी की तारीफ सुनकर खुश होते हैं, वहीं ऐसे भी इंसान हैं जो किसी की सराहना सुनकर जल-भुन जाते हैं।
मनोविज्ञान के अनुसार तारीफ करने या किसी की तारीफ सुनकर प्रसन्न होने के मामले में कौन व्यक्ति कैसा होगा, यह काफी हद तक पारिवारिक माहौल पर निर्भर करता है जबकि बहुत से लोगों में इस तरह का गुण या अवगुण जन्मजात भी होता है।
इंसानों के बीच लगी एक-दूसरे से ईष्र्या करने की लत के चलते ही अमेरिका जैसे देशों में तारीफ की तारीफ में इंटरनेशनल एप्रीसिएशन डे जैसे आयोजन किए जाते हैं। यह दिवस इंसान को इस बात की सीख देने के लिए मनाया जाता है कि किसी से जलना नहीं दूसरों की तारीफ करना सीखिए

मुझे तुम से मोहब्बत है बताना भुल जाता हूँ
तेरी गलियो मे फिरना इतना अच्छा लगता है
मै रास्ता याद रखता हूँ ठिकाना भुल जाता हूँ
बस इतनी बात पर मै लोगो को अच्छा नही लगता
मै नेकी कर तो देता हूँ जताना भुल जाता हूँ
